Suspect bed bugs? Start with identification and a clear plan. Bite marks alone do not reliably identify the cause.
What to look for
Look for visible insects, shed skins or small dark marks around mattress seams and bed frames. If possible, take a clear photograph without moving furniture between rooms.
In apartments or condos, notify the person responsible for the building so access and any neighbouring unit checks can be coordinated.
Before a visit
Avoid moving potentially affected furniture into another room or leaving it in a shared hallway. Do not discard belongings before discussing what is needed.
Preparation instructions depend on the planned treatment. Ask what to bag, wash or move and when rooms can be used again. We do not assume that every property needs the same method.
